thursdays theme, texture, rope and twine

Texture rope and twine.  There is something so  raw and organic about having a touch of texture.  It has a warmth to it.   Kind of random, yet welcoming.  I love the combination of a crisp white slip cover with some strong texture near by.  Below are examples of texture that can and should be added to any room,  the rope foot stool, basket bottles, jute runner, twine and baskets.  Each item alone can add a detail that won’t let you down.  Don’t be afraid to mix things up.  Move things around and freshen up with some interesting texture.   All items can be found at Bon.Bon Home.  Go for it lovies!  xoxo

inspire me with origami dress cards

When we helped Mary go through things for her move, we came upon a lot of really cool old books.   Some have value, some not so much.  What I find really cool about them is the yellowing of the pages and tattered edges.  I set a few aside.  You kind of know me by now;  If I don’t know what to do with it today, I’ll figure it out by tomorrow.  So, here you have it:  Little origami dress gift cards with detailed embellishments.

inspire me with the presentation

I subscribe to the idea that presentation is everything.  So, I always try to wrap a pretty package when ever I’m giving something from me.  I put this together for Mary on Mother’s Day.  Enclosed was the keepsake book mark I made for her with some of her broken jewelery.   I stuck the flowers in my basket the last time I was at Micheal’s.   I knew I would find a way to use them, someday!   Always have pretty paper, ribbon and tons of glue on hand.    Give me glue or give me butter and I can make anything.  xoxo

{The combo inspires me}

{Supplies, memory book paper, silk flowers, glue, ribbon and imagination}

{cut leaf shaped pieces of paper and crease one end and add a little bend}

{I think these flowers were maybe $1.00 total}

{Layer the paper and clue to the back and edges}

{Glue the flowers on and presto, little extra details.  Lauryn, The Skinny Confidential loved this and even put a picture on her site.}

mondays menu, wheat lasagne rolls

I love lasagne.   In fact, I love all things pasta.   This is a switch up on the traditional pan lasagne.    I like these for several reasons.  One, you don’t have to brake the bank with enough ingredients to fill a three layer casserole.   They are really easy to make.  They look cool and provide perfect portions for one serving.  I do the recipe with a few shortcuts.  I cook the wheat lasagne noodles the night before and keep them in the fridge.  Additionally to make life easier, I doctor up the already yummy Rao’s Marinara with sauteed carrot, sweet onion, fresh basil and several splashes of what ever chardonnay I happen to be sipping.  You can add Cooking Light Bechemal as an option.   Roll em up and enjoy! xoxo

{precook the pasta the night before}
