This little project started because I found this totally cool lantern and then had to figure out what to do with it. Of course it needs candles, but not just ordinary white candles. They had to have a little extra touch to add interest. I remember seeing this idea on a blog, but I can’t remember which one? Urg, I hate it when that happens…now I feel like a total rip off artist. DIY candles
Ingredients:
- 2 Candles
- Nail heads from ACE Hardware (because I love those Guys in Encinitas)
- Upholstery trim from local fabric shop
- Scissors
Recipe:
Measure the upholstery trim to overlap when you wrap it around the candle. Give extra length to turn under for a finished edge. Once you have the trip cute, hold it in place and bring the other end around to overlap. Fold under the edge of the overlapping piece and push a nail head into the top to hold. Then secure the bottom of the seam in the same way you did the top. Once you have the top and bottom secure, push a nail head into the center of the seam so you have correct spacing. Keep the nail heads equal distance apart and continue until you have the seam completed. It’s that easy!
