fig and brie pastry

IMG_9750-Version-2-868x1024I love appetizers and tapas.   I got inspired to create this little treat when I came across these figs at Whole Foods Market.  I’m not thrilled with figs alone.  However, I do love them as an embellishment to other flavors.   This was so simple and really made for a beautiful presentation and amazing combination of sweet, creamy crunch and salt.

I used packaged pastry dough Pepperidge Farms puff pastry and followed their directions for thawing and cooking.  Unfold the dough, press the edges in to create a border.  Spread a light layer of fig jam over the top.  Layer with sliced brie and sliced figs.  Drizzle with fig balsamic, or just balsamic will do.  Cook as directed.  Cut with a pizza roller.  This is scrumptious and as an after thought, I might add just a few pieces of crumbled bacon next time.  Enjoy!  xoxoIMG_9731-1024x682
