baby inspire, with little baber shop

little boy onesie

Been there done that.  Yep, there was a time when I needed at least one baby shower gift a week.  Oh ya those were the days…what to get, what to get? The challenge to come up with cute gifts on a working girls budget was so challenging that I started designing my own baby ware line and launched that need into a business.  I’m not certain that I’m up to launching another baby line, but I am certainly having fun prepping a few gifts.  I don’t know what you think, but I’m smitten with the old fashion barber shop theme??? Tell me, do you like it?

What you need where to get:  Two or three cute onesies (Target), I did the design work on these with the vintage hats, but you can use any cute onesie or romper.  You will also need, clear plastic drink cups, cute cupcake liners, candy bags, ribbon (Michael’s), printer, card stock and scissors.  I found an image of the mustache, made it bigger, printed it on card stock and cut it out.  To attach the mustache use cushy two sided tape.

inspire me with dots on the centerpiece

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching the planning for the food, table and holiday embellishments is well underway.  Last month I started the table planning with the thankful place mats found here.  This weekend I got the centerpiece vase and gave it a little whimsical  twist by creating dots  with stickers and frosting the vase.   To accompany the vase I created candle holders out of old cups by frosting dots on the clear cups and painting gold dots on the white cups.  I then glued them together and tied them off with a brown bow.  Much, much more is to come.  Be sure to check out the blog daily.  You just might find something that inspires you with ideas for your embellishments for the Thanksgiving Holiday.   Make everyday an event… xoxo                 {Any vase will do.  I found this one at Homegoods}

{you can find these stickers at an office supply of drug store}

{Frosting spray found here.  Spray the glass outdoors.}

{The frosting is quick and drys fast.  When it’s dry, peel off the stickers.  I use a toothpick to get the sticker started if it’s stubborn.  Be careful to not scratch the frosting.  It’s very unforgiving.}

{For the dots, I use craft paint found here.  There is nothing better then a rubber pencil eraser to make perfect dots.}

inspire me with vintage eye glasses

I came across these glasses when Brad and I were helping Mary go through some of her boxes in the garage.  Although Mary was willing to part with these, I couldn’t help but save them after the little story behind each pair and who they belonged to.   I know, I know, keeping these defeats the whole purpose of getting rid of stuff.  However, you have got to admit, they make for a pretty cute shadow box.   Make everyday an event.  {Directions below}

What you need.  Burlap, shadow box found a Micheal’s, scissors, hot glue gun and a flat head screw driver.

Remove the back of the shadow box, lift frame holds with screw driver.  Cover the interior “front side of back plate” with burlap.  Pull tight and glue to the back side.  Cut excess fabric off.   Note, I do the corners last, so you can cut to the corner and glue down the edges.

Decide the best order to show off the items.  I used the very smallest dot of glue to secure the ear pieces of each glass closed.

Set the items even space apart from one another.  Secure with small dots of glue.  Be careful to make sure no glue will not show from the front.  One the items are secure and in place.  Put the shadow box together and enjoy your creation.
