Let’s just jump right in. Just because, I post menu items once a week doesn’t mean I eat main meals all the time. In fact, I’m a total snack addict! I could eat cheese, salami and fruit (bread with my butter) every meal of the day. I would never cook if I didn’t have a family to feed or friends to entertain.
Snacking is the bomb dizzle in my world. It’s even more than that. It’s crucial to my weight maintaining. I don’t diet…ever! What I do subscribe to is fueling my metabolism with about 5 to 6 snacks or meals per day to keep my engine running. I mean think about it; if you quit putting gas in your car, your car will stop running and then when you do fuel it again; it will be slow to start. Our bodies are just like that.
Working from home comes with challenges too “that’s an understatement, geeezzz, careful…don’t get me started”. Okay, staying on point “hard for me, just saying”, challenging in this way; if I don’t keep snacks on hand, I will skip an important fuel time, or worse, I will hold off, get hungry and eat something crappy, like a loaded quesadilla or OMG something Mimi baked!
Saving myself from myself by having planned snacks pre-made and properly proportioned on hand is key. For example, I always have hard-boiled egg, string cheese, salami, lunchmeat, cooked chicken, cucumbers, celery, fresh spinach, olives, dried cranberries etc.; items that are easy to grab at my fingertips. The little skewers in todays post are awesome to make ahead of time. When you’re ready for a snack, you can just grab 2 or 3 skewers and well…yum!
